Soundscape 3 app for iPhone and iPad
Developer: David De Candia
First release : 07 Sep 2013
App size: 10.55 Mb
Soundscape 3 is a minimalist take on the Soundscape music visualisation series, designed for big screen presentation in party or club-style environments. The emphasis is on consistency of music response rather than sheer quantity of visual modes, with the goal being to automatically produce an appropriate response regardless of the mix being played.
The intended setup is with an iPad 4 or later connected to a 1080p projector via a HDMI adapter (not wirelessly). Music should be played via the internal player – i.e., all the songs being played should be stored on the iPad itself, not streamed.
Microphone response and camera modes are also present if you are looking for user-responsive visuals, although bear in mind the sound response through the microphone will be less accurate than via the internal player.
You can also frequency shift by pinching in the right half of the screen. This was added to slow down Terence McKenna’s voice but works well with all styles of music.
Soundscape 3 will function on an iPad 2 on, but the intended visual experience is only possible on the iPad 4+. If you have any doubts whether it will suit your needs, you can download a free version from the App Store.
NB: If you have photosensitive epilepsy (PSE) you shouldn’t view this app. Some modes feature frequent, rhythmic, high contrast colour flashes and rapidly changing imagery. Display this app in public environments at your own risk.
